Inside of A423G
If you want to move, click the arrows. A large well equipped development lab is available for instrument design and repair. Electronic test equipment is available to calibrate and test the diffractometer electronics, as well as most of the computing hardware in use in the IUMSC. While the laboratory does much of its own instrument repair, two other departmental Technical Service Engineering groups are located on the fourth floor of the building adjacent to the IUMSC. The Electronic Instrument Services (EIS) is proficient at diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in nearly all of the instrumentation in the laboratory. The Research Computer Systems Group, also located adjacent to the IUMSC, designed and constructed the complex interfaces used to control the Picker goniostats and the Scintag powder diffractometer. Also located in the Development Laboratory (to the left rear in the photo) is a table with an X-ray source for film instruments (Weissenburg, Precession, and powder cameras) as well as Picker four-circle instrument available for development work.
